SARASOTA, Fla. (July 25, 2011) – Award-winning recording artist and artist-in-residence at the Royal Theater Boys & Girls Club of the Suncoast, LX (Alex Harris) is faithful to the vision of Boys & Girls Clubs to provide a world-class Club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who walks through the doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle. He developed his Bridge Mentor2Mentor Initiative with this in mind, focusing on career development and creative education. Harris will introduce this initiative to the Roy McBean Boys & Girls Clubs of Newtown on August 11, and the public is invited to a performance of "Let's Get Together," an edgy, soulful ballad written and composed by Alex Harris (LX) and SubbZero Entertainment, LLC to honor two St. Petersburg police officers whose lives were taken while on duty. Harris will perform the ballad with members of the Roy McBean Boys & Girls Club.
The Bridge Mentor2Mentor Initiative is one of the three main components of the Royal Theater Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast Senior Conservatory's 360 CANA (Creative Arts National Alliance). Harris created a platform in Art, Music, Drama, Poetry, Spoken Word and Dance to educate participants in etiquette, marketing, and branding. "We prepare our participants through workshops and on-going performance showcases facilitated by music industry professionals and celebrities in an effort to develop each participant's unique talent to its fullest potential," says Harris.
The purpose of the Bridge Mentor2Mentor initiative is to extend this exciting opportunity and platform beyond the walls of the Royal Theater Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast Senior Conservatory to students in other Boys & Girls Clubs, local high schools, and college campuses in an effort to create positive energy among youth and young adults in the local community around educational achievement and career development. LX's first stop is Sarasota County. "We are excited about this opportunity for the kids at the Roy McBean Club, and more importantly, about bringing the message of working in harmony to stop violence," says Bill Sadlo, COO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County.
